Eating food by sitting on the floor is one of the things which has been followed in Indian culture, not only in India; Chinese, Japanese also Korean culture has this habit of sitting on the floor and eating. This southeast Asian culture is unique, no other culture or country has this habit. Especially Indians don’t use to eat at the dining table, now the lifestyle has changed but I am talking about 40 years back. People nowadays believe, that eating food at the dining table is royal; that’s why we losing that tradition but even now many urban and suburban peoples used to dine on the floor in their houses. Not that I am complaining about the people who prefer the table to the floor for dining, yep; we can’t blindly blame them. Days evolved and it might also sound like old fashion but we don’t throw the gold when it gets old.
Some of the old cultural traditions are more worthy than gold, our ancestors did those on purpose but don’t believe everything which comes on the internet; look, read, analyze, and decide because there are more conspiracies and foolish thoughts are spread nowadays in the name of ancestors by saying “our ancestors are not fools”. But we can believe in this, I mean eating food by sitting on the floor.

Sitting by folding legs is yoga and the posture is called Sukh asana while doing this; your pressure point at the lower spine activates which keeps your mind active, and you can feel the taste of your food much better. While eating in that posture we used to bend our belly to grab the food also we will unbend while swallowing, this back-and-forth action makes our liver and intestine active. So, we can easily digest the food. Indian food culture has rice and wheat as major coarse. Which came from plants and have fiber content, it is hard to make digestion for our liver because plant fibers have a cell wall. Non-vegetarian dishes can be easily digested by our liver because animal cells do not have a cell wall but plants do.

Joints are responsible for stability whether it is building or the human body. While sitting with crossed legs your hip joint, knee joint and toe joint start flexing also while eating wrist joint, finger joint, and elbow joint start flexing this process helps to improve our body stability.

Everyone knows blood is pumped by the heart throughout your body, when you sit on the floor by bending, your body veins can work with more efficiency throughout the body will be better.

A cross-legged posture helps the heart to circulate the blood to every organ effectively, also while dining at the table you won’t experience such things. When your digestive system has sufficient blood flow then it can break more ATP and amino acids.
Mental Stability
In this hard world, also in a hard daily routine, people need a stable mind. We can’t always be calm and pleasant at work. We will expect that calmness in-home while on the toilet while taking shower while sleeping and also while eating. That’s why our parents used to say don’t talk while eating.
