1. Joint Admission Test for Masters (IIT JAM)

If you have applied for JEE Advanced but could not clear it due to lack of guidance and preparation and want another chance to get into IITs, then JAM can slake your thirst. If you are a BSc student, then this is for you. This exam is conducted for admission to courses like MSc (Four Semesters), Joint MSc – PhD, MSc – MTech, MSc- PhD Dual Degree and other courses. The test will be conducted on seven subjects.

  • Must have a minimum of 55% marks for General and OBC and 50% marks for SC and ST categories
  • Submission of a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form is mandatory during admission

2. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)

Candidates feel this is is one of the best ways to get admission in IIT without JEE. GATE opens up doors for many possibilities. If you have pursued your BTech and want good opportunities for MTech, appearing for GATE is a brilliant plan. This exam is conducted all over India for admission in IITs and other MTech colleges to pursue post-graduate programs (M.E., M.Tech, direct PhD). GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs. This exam is conducted in the month of February every month.

The eligibility criteria for candidates willing to appear for GATE exam are:

3. Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED)

For all those who are unaware, design courses are also offered by the IITs. So if you want to get admission in IIT without JEE to pursue undergraduate design courses can appear in UCEED exam. This is conducted by IIT Bombay to pursue BDes. This exam was last conducted in January 2020.

Eligibility for UCEED

The eligibility criteria for candidates willing to appear for the UCEED exam are:

  • Indian and Foreign nationals are eligible
  • Should have been born on or after 1st October 1997 (for general and OBC candidates) and on or after 1st October 1992 (for SC, ST, and PwD candidates)
  • Passed or appearing for class XII or equivalent exam
  • Can attempt the exam a maximum of two times and in two consecutive years

4. Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED)

If you are one of those creative students who wants to pursue a designing course, CEEd can be a good way to get into IIT. This exam for MDes is one of the most reputed exam other than JEE for IIT admission. CEED is conducted for admission in IITs and IISc Bangalore. The exam tests the candidate’s aptitude for design involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, and creativity & communication skills. The exam was last conducted by IIT Bombay on 18th January 2020.

Eligibility for CEED

The eligibility criteria for candidates willing to appear for the CEED exam are:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design or equivalent
  • Must have a professional diploma in design
  • BFA (4-year professional program, after 10+2)
  • GD Art (5-year program after 10th) with one-year post qualification professional experience
  • Master’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Computer Applications (2-year programme after 10+2+3)
  • Those having a three-year Bachelor’s degree will not be eligible for the CEED Entrance exam for Ph.D. and M. Des

5. Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam (HSEE)

This exam is conducted for those candidates who want to pursue five year integrated Master of Arts (MA) programmes. If you want admission into Integrated M.A. in Development Studies or Integrated M.A. in English Studies in IIT, this exam is for you.

Eligibility for HSEE

The eligibility criteria for candidates willing to appear for the HSEE exam are:

  • Must be below the age of 25
  • Age relaxation of 5 years is available for SC, ST, and PwD candidates
  • Those who have passed 12th are eligible
  • Must have scored 60% marks in aggregate in their qualifying examination (55% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates)
  • Those appearing in final year exams are also eligible
  • Submission of a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form is mandatory during admission

6. Common Admission Test (CAT)

One of the most common answers you will receive to the question how to get admission in IIT without JEE is CAT. By appearing for this exam, candidates can pursue engineering as well as management courses. Many top management institutes including IITs accept CAT scores for admission.

Eligibility for CAT

The eligibility criteria for candidates willing to appear for CAT exam are:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks for General and OBC categories and 45% marks for SC, ST & PwD
